SOS Guide to Wearing Your Surgical Mask

With Covid-19 affecting everyone’s daily lives our emergency front line workers are donating their own health and safety with selflessness for others, and we would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to them.
Wearing respirators or surgical masks are vital in protecting their health and safety. The World Health Organization suggests everyone wearing a facial mask or scarf for protection from possible airborne particles from Coronavirus in public places.
Though absolutely necessary, wearing a facial mask for countless hours a day can cause an immense amount of discomfort to your skin.
Continuous pressure causes deep painful impressions, extreme dehydration, breakouts, pigmentation scarring and tearing of the epidermal layer. With time and repeated use, damage to skin's fibroblasts breaks down collagen and elastin, prematurely aging the skin.
In combination with great nutrition and proper sleep, taking care of your skin is part of a healthy lifestyle that supports a great immune system.
How to Prep your skin for wearing your surgical mask
*Cleanse the skin with a gentle gel or milk cleanser
*Apply a thin layer of hydrating serum, or a daily ceramide capsule.
*Apply a hydrating, anti aging eye cream
*Apply a moisturizer containing a mineral SPF. Titanium & Zinc have natural anti-inflammatory properties that help with skin chafing that feels similar to a sunburn on the skin.
*Apply a generous layer of lip mask or balm
After removing your surgical mask:
*Cleanse your skin with a gentle gel cleanser
*Double cleanse with a gentle milk cleanser
*Apply a hydrating serum
*Apply a hydrating anti aging eye cream

*Take 2 drops of facial Recovery oil & press in palms of hands. Take a deep breath in...hold...deep breath out...and apply oil to your face with a light facial massage.
*Apply a generous layer of lip mask or balm
If your skin becomes broken apply a small amount of facial balm to affected areas.
Tips
*For extremely dry skin substitute a hydrating facial masque for your day-time moisturizer at least 3 times per week. (emulsify with water and apply in a thin layer)
